When Katie’s cabin mates told her someone had pranked her bed, first thing she thought was Stoll brothers. She was too mad at what she would find to acknowledge the amused grins and hushed laughter among her half siblings.  What could the boys have done this time? (Nothing could be worse than the Chocolate Easter Bunnies Incident. Then again, they're the types to want to one up a prank. Of course it had to involve Katie.)

She charged through her cabin doors and toward her bed, rehearsing all the things she would scold—no, yell—at Connor and Travis—.

            Oh.

            "Oh my gods."

The amount of degrees her body temperature went up was nerving.

Valentine cards, all shades of pink and red and sizes, littered her bed. Some store bought and others crudely made. A few had K or To Katie written on the front.  Katie folded her arms, her emotions somewhere between embarrassment and annoyance (and maybe, possibly, flattery, because she's never gotten this many from anyone. Then again, the Stolls could be mocking her.)

Katie ignored her siblings’ whispers of which brother did it because there's no way they both did. She wasn’t sure how to feel about that.

She gathered some cards into her arms, not exactly sure what to do with them or where to hide them. The ones she bothered to open had neither of the brothers' names.  One of the cards, a small red one with a white heart in the middle, fell. Picking it up she saw writing inside and read it.

Her heart rate went up the same time her face managed a deeper shade of pink.

Cleaned out my trunk and found years worth of Valentines I never got the courage to send you. I know it’s late. And it probably looks like a joke. Oh well. Sorry? –Connor
